Continued Poor Salmon Harvests Forecast in Hokkaido this Autumn, with Less Than 40 Million Fish

The stock size of salmon migrating to Hokkaido this autumn is foreseen to stay below 40 million, a stagnant level that had continued in the last two years.
A Hokkaido prefectural salmon research institute recently estimated that the salmon runs to Hokkaido this season would be 39,015,000 fish, a modest increase of 6% over the previous season.
By sea area, salmon runs to the Sea of Okhotsk is forecast to show a 10.8% growth to 17,849,000 fish, accounting for 45% of all the salmon runs to Hokkaido...
