ISSF and Pacific Alliance for Sustainable Tuna in New Collaboration to Promote Sustainability Goals

Washington, D.C. – The International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF) and the Pacific Alliance for Sustainable Tuna (PAST) announced today that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a framework for mutual cooperation on conservation and sustainability goals.
The agreement creates a mechanism for working closely together on activities to promote the sustainability of tuna fisheries and ecologically healthy marine ecosystems in the Eastern Pacific Ocean (EPO).
The activities the two groups will work on include:
· Improved electronic reporting and electronic monitoring, including for purse seine vessels as well as other fisheries such as longline
· Binding implementation of improved harvest strategies by the IATTC for EPO tropical tunas
