Performance Foods Group Gets Over 90% of Seafood Certified Sustainable; DNA Testing Major Products

Performance Foods Group said a majority of its farmed and wild-caught seafood supply chain is certified sustainable by third-party programs. The company is also using DNA testing to verify the species of its seafood products.
The broadline distributor said over 92 percent of its imported and domestically sourced farm raised seafood is certified by the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s Best Aquaculture Program.
Additionally, more than 97 percent of PFG branded fresh and frozen wild-caught seafood is certified sustainable through Marine Stewardship Council, the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, or the Commission for the Conservations of Antarctic Marine Living Resources...
