Bundrant says New Products and More Value Added Products Only Way to Boost Pollock Prices

New product development (NPD) and innovation around Alaska pollock is the only way the industry can escape the current situation of low prices, Joe Bundrant, CEO of Trident Seafoods, said in an interview with Undercurrent News.
The dismal price situation for pollock was one of the main talking points of the recent Groundfish Forum in Hamburg, Germany. So was Trident’s plan for value-added processing in Europe with its Pickenpack Seafoods operation, previously 19% owned by Pacific Andes International Holdings.
Having bought the former Pacific Andes controlled TST The Seafood Traders plant in Riepe, Germany -- now Pickenpack Seafoods -- from an insolvency process, Trident can now talk directly to the customer. The deal was announced in April, with Trident formally taking over in July.
