Canada and Chile Make Big Effort at Qingdao Fisheries and SFd Expo; Seek Chinese Investment as Well

The 21st China Fisheries & Seafood Expo (CFSE) has been hosted in Qingdao from November 2nd to 4th. It is the second largest seafood show worldwide and expected to surpass the European Seafood Expo within a year or two.
Popular foreign seafood like king crabs, lobsters and salmon was featured at the show in the overseas exporters pavillion. .The show is hosted by the Specialized Sub-Council of Agriculture of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in collaboration with the US Sea Fare Exposition Inc.
This expo has welcomed more than 1,350 exhibitors from 44 countries and regions. China has become an important market for these seafood sellers with its economic development. For example, Canada’s export of seafood like lobsters and salmon has doubled in the past year. And salmon export volume has even skyrocketed by 1500%.
In the section of Chilean products, a 1.8-kilo king crab has grabbed the attention of many passers-by. According to Wang, the purchase director for Sunkfa --a large Chinese importer of Chilean seafood, the wholesale price of frozen king crabs is about 120 to 130 yuan per kilo. And the price is between 170 to 180 yuan on such online platforms as JD. The price of the live ones is even as high as 240 yuan/kilo. And the minimal price of such a king crab is about 600 to 700 yuan in restaurants.
Thanks to zero tariff, the price of Chilean king crabs is about 14% lower than others...
