ISSF and 20 NGO Partners, Including WWF and MSC, Appeal to Pacific Tuna Comm. to Adopt Harvest Rules

There is no issue so important in tuna management as adopting harvest control rules and strategies. ISSF has identified science-based harvest limits and control rules as the single most important measure to ensure health of the tuna stocks. WWF has fully endorsed this, as has the MSC in its standards.
However, the governments that make up the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) have not committed to timely implementation of a work plan to bring about these rules. There are steps on the table that would lead to beginning to implement these rules in 2017.
