Gulf Shrimp Market at Annual High Price in December With Landings Lowest Since 2010

Shrimp landings out of the Gulf of Mexico remain at a five low in 2016 as the harvest in November posted a decline from October and compared to November 2015. This ongoing decline in domestic production continues to support 52-week high prices in wholesale markets this December.
Landings in November topped 9 million pounds. The figure was down about 2 million pounds from October and marks the start to the seasonal decline in landings from the fishery.
The harvest for the year now stands at about 88 million pounds, which is about 10 million pounds short of last year’s haul through eleven months. The 2016 Gulf shrimp harvest is the lowest since the BP oil spill in 2010...
