China Research Report Shows Slight Decrease in White Shrimp Output in 2016

An assessment of China’s farmed white shrimp industry in 2016 was recently released by China’s National Fishery Technical Extension Center of China’s Ministry of Agriculture. The agency’s experts visited 38 white shrimp aquaculture facilities in six different provinces. Their report includes shrimp farming in both fresh water and sea water.
General observations
The agency reports that the area of production is decreasing. A total number of 21,497.5 Mu (1 Mu≈666.7㎡) were farmed in 2016, a reduction of 0.03% compared with the previous year.
