Perciformes’s First Harvest of Farmed Sablefish Off To Market

The first harvest of plump sablefish was made on Valentine's Day, appropriate for the aquaculturists at Perciformes Group's grow out facility in Taft, TX. Their labor of love started 160 days earlier when the sablefish fry arrived from a Washington state hatchery to the multi-million dollar research and development facility. Perciformes' research facility uses recirculated water throughout their land-based grow-out tanks.
Three hundred pounds of 1.5-pound sablefish, also known as black cod, were harvested, packed in ice, and shipped to a Maryland distributor catering to chefs at Washington DC white tablecloth restaurants...
