Fresh Shrimp Headed to South Carolina Docks Next Week When Season Set to Open

Shrimpers can drop their nets in the outer state waters on April 20, a little later than last year but not too soon for customers waiting at the docks.
Mel Bell, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources fisheries director, confirmed the season opening for 8 a.m.
The outer waters, called provisional, are roughly beyond 2 miles from shore, between the nearshore state waters and federal waters even farther out.
