Fisheries Minister LeBlanc Uses Increase in Snow Crab Quota to Award 1100 Tons to Aboriginal Fishers

Federal Fisheries Minister Dominic LeBlanc said he was using the historic increase in snow crab biomass in the Gulf to provide a one year set aside of 1100 tons of crab for indigenous groups to increase their access to the fishery.
Although this is billed as a one-time action, in other situations the DFO has continued temporary allocations, in some cases for years.
