Louisiana Opens First Portion of Commercial Shrimp Season; Inventories Ready for New Production

Seasonally thin domestic shrimp inventories should get a boost over the next couple of weeks now that a portion of Louisiana’s commercial shrimp fishing season started today. Another opening is scheduled for next week on May 15.
The state’s Wildlife and Fisheries Commission set the opening dates for the Louisiana spring shrimp season based on data provided by Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries biologists and public comments.
