Bristol Bay Update: Nushagak District Catch and Escapement Exceeds Forecast, Rest of Run Still Building

To use two old saws for Bristol Bay, timing is everything and size definitely matters. With total catches as of July 6 at 13.7 million salmon, one could speculate that the run is at the half-way point of a harvest forecast of 27.47 million salmon.
But if the size of the run is smaller, the run could be beyond the halfway point. On the other hand, less than 20 percent of the 8.3 million sockeyes catch forecast has been landed in the Naknek-Kvichak system, indicating that we should be seeing more salmon returning to that system in the coming days, perhaps this weekend...
