Pacific Bluefin Tuna Stays Off ESA List

The National Marine Fisheries Service has reviewed the status of Pacific bluefin tuna and said in a filing Monday the species doesn't warrant a threatened or endangered listing under the Endangered Species Act.
The Center for Biological Diversity and other 13 conservation groups filed the petition requesting listing of bluefin tuna and designation of critical habitat in June 2016. In October 2016, NMFS determined sufficient evidence existed to require further consideration and initiated a status review.
