Shrimp Imports Continue Extremely Strong in July
July imports are up 15.7% pushing YTD imports 9.6% higher. The total value of all shrimp imports per lb. in July 2017 was $4.40 versus $4.18 a year ago an increase of over 5%.
India continues to provide the bulk of US imports; fully 30% of all imports. Indonesian imports are off sharply in July and lower YTD.
Ecuador imports are up; despite sending most of their shrimp to Asia, as their production continues at record levels. Thai imports are about even in July but down YTD.
Vietnamese imports surged in July as did China’s. Chinese imports are running well above a year ago.
