Shrimp Surge Continues, as US Imports in January up 20% over 2017 Levels

January 2018 shrimp imports were just released and indicate a continuation of the surge in shrimp imports from 2017.
Shrimp imports are up 20.5% over January 2017 and were substantially increased from every major shrimp supplying country. The overall average value per lb. of all shrimp imports was slightly higher at $4.36 versus $4.30 a year ago.
The higher imports continue to be led by India where imports were up 48.5%.
HLSO imports were 5% higher while peeled imports increased 35.4%...
