Retailers have cut back seafood promotions across the board for Lent, as overall prices $1.00 higher

Retailers have cut back the national volume of retail seafood promotions this lent season compared to 2013.
Overall, the number of seafood promotions is down 5.1% in March 2014, vs. March 2013.
The reason is an across the board increase in average prices. The median price of a retail seafood item on promotion in March 2013 was $6.99, while in march 2014, it was $7.99.
Retailers have reacted to the higher prices by cutting the number of promotions offered.
