Two or three packers expected to cut back herring operations in Togiak, Silver Bay to take up slack

The Togiak herring fishery in Bristol Bay may get underway early due to warmer water temperatures.
The current harvest guideline is for 27,890 tons, of which 70% (19,523) is allocated to purse seine; the remainder to gillnets.
This level is 7.2% less than the quota last year which was over 30,000 tons, but actual catches were 28,808 tons.
