Mexico's Pesca Azteca renovating yellowfin tuna purse seine fleet

Director Luis Lazaro Valles stated that Mexican fishing company Pesca Azteca part of tuna giant Pinsa Group will invest a total of $100 million to renovate its purse seiner fleet.
The yellowfin tuna catcher, which stated to have the biggest fleet in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, ordered four vessels from the Spanish shipyard Armon, of which one tuna seiner the 79 meter-long Tamara was already delivered on April 3. Two more seiners are likely to be delivered in August and the last one in October this year. Lazaro said, With these four new seiners, 30% of our 20 vessels fleet will be less than 10 years old.
For 2014, Pesca Azteca's total catches are estimated to range from 60,000t to 65,000t.
