Mexico and US authorities agree on certificate of origin scheme for Mexican wild and farmed shrimp

The Government of Mexico is planning to issue certificates of origin for Mexican shrimp produced by aquaculture or caught by the artisanal or coastal fleet for export to the United States.
This decision was made together with American authorities. It follows the temporary ban on wild shrimp from Mexico last year, after the US government inspected the use of turtle excluder devices, and found they were not used sufficiently to certify shrimp imports.
