SeafoodNews is seeking a sustainability editor. The full title of the positon will be science and sustainability editor.
This contract position is full time or part time, depending on qualifications, and is based in Seattle, Washington
The sustainability editor will divide his or her time between editorial assignments for SeafoodNews and video and editorial production about fisheries science and sustainability issues involving Alaska and global fisheries.
Qualifications:
The sustainability editor will have two primary qualifications. First, the position requires experience and/or knowledge of the major scientific and sustainability issues confronting Alaskan and global fisheries and the ability to communicate these issues to seafood buyers, and prior experience either in the seafood industry or interacting with the seafood industry.
Second, the position requires an exceptional ability to write. The Editor will be producing two major feature stories per month, along with other short term news assignments from SeafoodNews. The Editor will also assist in the production of video copy, including possible narration and copy writing.
Rapid, succinct and persuasive writing skills are essential.
Output: The Sustainability Editor will write news about the management of federal fisheries, Alaska fisheries, and global fisheries and about sustainability issues using a science based approach to sustainability and highlighting the success of this model in both Alaska and the rest of the U.S.
The Editor will produce two feature stories per month based on an editorial calendar, and numerous shorter stories on these and other issues.
