Record $3.00 spread between Gulf shrimp and Asian shrimp unlikely to last

The current price spread between Asian 21-25 farmed white headless and Gulf of Mexico 21-25 wild white headless is around $3.00. This is something that has not happened before, and is likely due to a combination of supply factors and the fact that Gulf shrimp has been developing its own market niche.
Up until February of this year, Gulf shrimp had a consistent price premium that varied between $.50 and $1.00, but averaged around $.60 cents.
