NOAA now seeking public comments on final proposal to establish Gulf of Mexico aquaculture standards

The public now has until late October to comment on a proposed rule that will lay out permitting guidelines for setting up aquaculture operations in Gulf of Mexico waters.
The notice from NOAA Fisheries is asking the public to weigh in on the Gulf's aquaculture proposal that will allow for a maximum of 20 farming permits over a ra 10 year period.
If the rule goes final after the public review period interested parties would be allowed to apply for a permit to farm raise fish in the Gulf of Mexico. The rule defines all the parameters for an aquaculture industry.
