Norway may require salmon farmers to pay to recapture escaped fish

OSLO, Norway must make it mandatory for salmon farmers to pay to catch fish that has escaped from their cages, the country's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries said in a proposal for new regulations on Monday.
An existing environmental fund organised by the Norwegian Seafood Federation (FHL) industry group will be made independent, and contributions will become mandatory in many cases, the ministry said.
"Farmers who brand their fish will not be required to contribute to the fund," it added.
