Kodiak's first annual Salmon Life Social celebrates how industry benefits community (Fish Radio)

Fishing communities throughout Alaska take pride in their fisheries. Celebrating the abundance of the season with festivals and events bring our seafood to the forefront in the community. From Salmon Stock in Ninilchick, The Salmon Jam and Copper River Wild festival in Cordova, and the Pink Salmon Festival in Valdez, now Kodiak has jumped on the salmon wagon with its 1st annual Salmon Life Social.
“I thought to myself why don’t we celebrate salmon? We have a crab festival that is very commercial, and there are always opportunities for community events but they don’t seem to happen.”
