Cyclone Hudhud devastating to India's north coastal districts fisheries

VISAKHAPATNAM: As many as 80,000 people, including 25,000 fisherwomen and around 55,000 fishermen, who depend on fish trade in the three north coastal districts will be affected due to Cyclone Hudhud.
According to fishing industry sources, trade estimated at around Rs 1.75 crore to Rs 2 crore is expected to be hit on a daily basis as landings of nearly 2,500 tonnes of seafood will be affected.
Fishing industry sources said that while Vizag witnesses around 1,500 tonnes of fish trade daily, Srikakulam records around 700 tonnes and Vizianagaram 300 tonnes of trade.
