Fall in pollock and salmon exports highlights 11% drop in overall Russian fish shipments through Aug

Russia cut exports of fish, fish products and seafood 11.6% year-on-year in January-August 2014 to 1.195 million tonnes, Russian federal fisheries agencyRosrybolovstvo said, citing data from the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
At the same time, fish imports grew 1.5% in the 8M to 585,300 tonnes.
The drop in exports occurred largely because of fewer frozen fish shipments (down by 4.8%, or 181,700 tonnes at 1.446 million tonnes). Frozen fish accounts for 87.4% of foreign shipments. Another 6.3% is accounted for by fish filet and other fish, while 3.4% is in shellfish and mollusks and 1.2% in finished and canned fish...
