Zhangzidao Group forms Capital Seafoods Int'l in Nova Scotia to export lobsters to China
Zhangzidao Group, which will soon operate as Zoneco in English, has set up Capital Seafoods, a subsidiary that will initially focus on the processing, packing and exporting of live and frozen Canadian lobster products to the Chinese market. Capital will be based in Nova Scotia and will focus first on shipping 1.25 – 1.5 pound lobsters to China. The products will be stored in Zhangzidao's existing holding facilities in Shanghai. According to company president Jack Liu the lobsters will be advertised as Canadian lobsters rather than the traditional “Boston” lobster promotion marketed to Chinese consumers. In addition to the lobster business, Capital already has expansion plans to export other Canadian seafood products out of Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada. "We will make Capital Seafood a major hub of our future business in Nova Scotia," Liu said.
