Arizona State tests show antibiotic levels in shrimp and seafood all in compliance under FDA regs

A study on the use of antibiotics in farmed shrimp and seafood found that all of the items they tested were in compliance under FDA regulations.
In their study Hansa Done, PhD candidate, and Rolf Halden, PhD, researchers at Arizona State University’s Biodesign Institute, examined antibiotic use in global aquaculture operations.
The researchers studied the presence of antibiotics in shrimp, salmon, catfish, trout, tilapia and swai, originating from 11 countries. They tested 27 seafood samples for the presence of antibiotics. The samples represented five of the top 10 most consumed seafood varieties in the U.S.: shrimp, tilapia, catfish, swai, and Atlantic salmon.
