SEAFOOD bosses at Young's are celebrating a staggering 21 per cent growth in chilled sales in the past year. This follows strong growth for the company's chilled line in 2013 as well.
The independently-verified figures value the Grimsby-based brand's position in the refrigerated aisles at £50 million, and includes 40 different ranges.
Chilled fish sales rocketed in the UK in the middle of the past decade, before the recession hit, slowing the growth dramatically. Today's figures underline how many may feel sales may be back on track, with chilled a vital element of Grimsby's seafood cluster status, as the shelf life limitation demands processing is as close to the customer as possible.
