Univ. of North Texas, WWF Chile receive Sea Pact grants for their seafood sustainability projects

The University of North Texas (UNT) and WWF Chile are the latest groups to receive grant money from Sea Pact that will further each of the organizations' projects that promote seafood sustainability.
For UNT, Sea Pact's grant will go towards its project that is researching the use of probiotics as an alternative to antibiotics for improving growth and survival in marine finfish aquaculture. Current mortality rates in some marine fish species can be as high as 90% at the early stages, and use of antibiotics to reduce mortality can lead to the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and public health concerns.
