Chile targeting Qingdao for big expansion into China's seafood market with zero tariff in 2015
With the coming of zero tariff rate, Qingdao acts as the distribution center for over 60% of the imported seafood from Chile.
At the recent China Fisheries & Seafood Expo in Qingdao there were a large amount of Chilean aquatic products, whose tariff rate will become zero in 2015.
M. George, Chile’s newly appointed ambassador to China was at the expo and played a leading role in the debut of Chilean seafood in Qingdao. This event has not only attracted 21 Chilean aquatic companies such as the largest exporter of mussels but also some famous Chilean seafood suppliers of salmon and scallops. The relevant parties have further discussed the economic cooperation between Qingdao and Chile regarding the marine aquaculture, wine and export of Chinese products.
Qingdao is of great significance for the seafood promotion.
