Technomic tracking data shows continued improvement in Casual Dining amid strong competition

Tracking data from more than 100 national public and private chains that generate more than $40 billion in quarterly sales, the latest from Technomic’s Financial Dashboard, finds that the Fast Casual Restaurant segment outperformed all others with nearly 8 percent growth in same store sales during Q3 2014. Same store sales within Casual Dining and Quick Service Restaurants increased by 1.9 percent and 1.2 percent during the same period, respectively.
This shows an acceleration of restaurant performance across all types of chains. In Q2, Fast Casual grew at a 5.8% pace, Quick Service at 1.5%, and Casual Dining at 0.4%.
