Ahi Run Has Fishermen Seeing Green

Big ahi are on an unseasonable run off the coast of Hawaii Island, creating a boon for fishermen and consumers alike.
The much-sought-after yellowfin tuna typically aren't biting this time of year, said Suisan Co. Ltd. Fish Division Manager Kyle Sumner, but in the last week or so that has unexpectedly changed.
"We're on a huge ahi run now," he said Monday. "We're seeing some pretty ridiculous amounts. … Regularly in the winter time we're not seeing a lot of big Yellowfin coming up."
