Preferred Freezer Services has added nearly 3 million cubic feet to its Houston Express operation to accommodate for increased customer demand for more cold storage capacity.
The expansion will add 84,686 square feet of freezer space and 13,058 square feet of additional loading dock room to Preferred's Houston Express facility. The company is currently receiving products for the added space.
Shipping and receiving activity in Houston has grown over the last year or so according to Preferred. Generally the US is importing more goods, which has put pressure on major port destination along the West and East Coasts. Houston has been one region where shippers and receivers have taken this increased business.
More recently, historic levels of congestion at the major Los Angeles and Long Beach ports sent even more business to Houston with operators in need of alterative destinations to send and receive products.
“We have a great team of people in the Houston market ready to serve current and new customers in this ever-expanding port,” said Brian Beattie, President of Preferred Freezer Services.
