BP Blowout Hurt US Shrimp Industry, Not Imports, CIT Says

The U.S. Court of International Trade said Friday, April 3, 2015 that injury to the U.S. Gulf shrimp industry stems not from foreign imports but rather the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, rejecting a challenge to a negative final injury determination on shrimp from China, India and other countries.
The Coalition of Gulf Shrimp Industries had argued that the U.S. International Trade Commission erred in beginning its period of investigation in 2010 — the year of the Deepwater Horizon disaster — rather than in 2009, which would have provided broader market perspective.
