Investigation Underway to Find Who Set 100 Illegal Lobster Traps in Nova Scotia's LFA 34

Lobsters recently found in what conservation officers consider illegally set traps outside a Yarmouth-area fishing zone have been returned to the sea.
Although the lobster from over 100 traps are now back to clamouring over the seabed and seized equipment has been impounded, Fisheries and Oceans Canada continues to investigate and is preparing to lay charges.
“The midshore patrol vessel Peddle was patrolling the boundaries of Lobster Fishing Area 34, which is quite a lucrative area, when the discovery was made,” said Dan Fleck, field supervisor with Fisheries and Oceans in Tusket, Yarmouth County...
