Roger Berkowitz, Legal Sea Foods CEO, Treasures Memories of Julia Child

On the wall of Roger Berkowitz's office hangs a framed letter from Julia Child, written the day before she died.
Mr. Berkowitz is president and chief executive of Legal Sea Foods, the Boston-based seafood counter and 33-location restaurant group his parents started in 1950. He remembers Ms. Child as a loyal customer and family friend.
Ms. Child got fish for her own kitchen and her cooking show at Legal Sea Foods, sometimes mentioning the store by name, says Mr. Berkowitz. She got a 25-pound monkfish at Legal Sea Foods for an episode that introduced her audience to the ugly, prehistoric-looking species with dense, tasty meat, he says. Suddenly everyone wanted monkfish, Mr. Berkowitz says.
