Louisiana to Reopen Some Offshore Shrimp Fishing April 22 with Whites Now at Marketable Sizes

White shrimp in some offshore parts of the Gulf of Mexico are now large enough for commercial fishing to get underway next week according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Portions of Lousiana state waters that extend three nauitical miles, seaward of the Inside/Outside Shrimp Line, from the northwest shore of Caillou Boca to the eastern shore of the Atchafalaya River Shrip Channel at Eugene Island will be reopen for commercial shrimp starting at 6am on Wednesday April 22. This area lies seaward of Terrebonne Parish.
According to the most recent trawl samples taken by LDWF biologists, small white shrimp which previously occupied these waters since December have reached marketable sizes and the closure is no longer necessary...
