SFP Finds Gulf Warmwater and N. American Pink Shrimp Fisheries at Low Risk of Producing High Bycatch

A report released this week by the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) found that bycatch among wild shrimp trawlers accounts for more volume than any other fishery type but that efforts to reduce bycatch can make a positive difference. The latter point was particulary evident from management efforts analyzed in the Gulf of Mexico fishery and among pink shrimping regions in Atlantic Canada, West Greenland, and the Barents Sea performed well, as did Oregon
