AquaBounty Gets FDA Approval to Sell its GM Salmon in US Market, Ending 20-Year Hold Up

Aquabounty Technologies has finally earned FDA approval to sell its genetically modified AquAdvantage Atlantic salmon in the US market.
This week’s FDA approval ends a 20-year long hang up in approving Aquabounty’s New Animal Drug Application. The company’s hotly contested production method creates a transgenic Atlantic salmon egg by combining the genes of an ocean pout and a Chinook salmon.
