DFO Surveillance Leads to $35K Fine for Captain of Nunavut Fishing Vessel
The Nunavut Court of Justice sentenced George Hudson to a CA$35,000 fine for violations under the Fisheries Act, Fisheries and Oceans Canada announced on May 16. Hudson must pay the fine within six months.
Hudson was sentenced in April after an investigation began following the detection of the Canadian fishing vessel Suvak fishing outside of Canadian fisheries waters during a routine aerial surveillance patrol in October 2012.
