Center for Biological Diversity, Other Groups Try Again for OR/CA Chinook Listing
Many salmon populations on the West Coast have been struggling in recent years as droughts, fluctuations in ocean conditions and development have affected Chinook runs in many rivers.
Now, after a petition from three conservation groups, NMFS issued a 90-day finding that Southern Oregon/Northern California coast Chinook salmon may warrant federal listing as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act.
