Georgia Now Accepting Lottery Applications for Subtidal Shellfish Leases in Glynn County

On Monday, December 9, 2024, the Coastal Resources Division (CRD) of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources announced that it is now accepting applications for a lottery to award three subtidal water bottom leases for commercial shellfish production in Glynn County.

These leases are available for mariculture of Eastern Oysters (Crassostrea virginica) using floating gear, with each lease covering 7.5 acres and awarded at a cost of $150 per acre, totaling $1,125 annually. Per program stipulations, leaseholders must tag and mark all lease corners.
