Optimism Grips Chilean Salmon Industry as Prices Rise in US; Salmon Stock Shares Jump

The steady rise in price for Chilean salmon during the last month in its main market, the United States and the fall of Norwegian prices, which was at record levels, have injected optimism into the local industry. So much so that twice this week the Santiago stock Exchange suspended trading in some salmon shares, because they price was rising to quickly. For example, share of Australis have been suspended twice in less than a week.
Last year Aqua publshed an article titled "In 2015: Chilean salmon farmers lost more than half their capital in the stock market" , which detailed the average capitalization of five of the six companies listed on the Santiago Stock Exchange was a negative 54.6%.
