Marine Harvest Chile Had to Double its Use of Antibiotics in 2015 to Control Disease

Marine Harvest says it had to use twice as many antibiotics in its Chilean salmon farming operations in 2015 compared to 2014 levels.
The increased usage was confirmed in an annual report issued by the Norway-based producer. According to Marine Harvest, it had to use 573 grams of antibiotics per ton of biomass produced at its Chilean farms. This is compared to 241 grams that it used in 2014.
