Norwegian Seafood Export Values Reach All-Time Records in September

Norwegian seafood export values set all-time records both year-to-date and for the month of September with notable increases reported for salmon, cod, herring and crab shipments.
According to data from Norway’s Seafood Export Council, Norwegian seafood export values were up 26 percent through the first nine months of the year at NOK 65 billion (US$8.09 billion), a new record high. Monthly shipments in September were valued at NOK 8.8 billion ($1.10 billion), a 31 percent increase and also a record high.
”The value of Norwegian seafood exports have doubled over the past six years. September exports alone are equal to seafood exports for the whole of 1990. Norwegian seafood is a scarce resource in the world market. With stable volumes supporting this growth in demand coupled with high prices for most products and this explains the basis of our record year to date”, said Communications Director Geir Håvard Hanssen with the Norwegian Seafood Council...
