Marine Harvest Chile to Cut Antibiotic Use 70% in Salmon Pens in Favor of Vaccinations

Marine Harvest’s Chilean operations announced a plan to cut antibiotic use 70 percent at its salmon farming operations according to a report from El Mercurio.
The plan would reduce Marine Harvest's antibiotic among its Chilean farmers from 450 grams per metric ton of salmon produced to 150 grams.
Marine Harvest Chile’s Health and Nutrition Manager, Jorge Mancilla, said the company intends to vaccinate all species of their facilities with a new drug from Pharmaq, which has offered positive results.
The company is also experimenting with using cleansing fish that eat sea lice in the ponds...
