GAA calls for Better Oceanographic Modeling to Supplement Sampling in Report on Chile's Algal Blooms

In an new report summarizing how Chile's Algae bloom disrupted the salmon industry, and the steps taken by the government and industry to respond, the GAA has called for a much different approach.
The report says that the salmon farming zones have been developed based on geographic not oceanographic factors, and as a result there is little information about the nutrient carrying capacity of the various areas.
The GAA gave Chile high marks for monitoring algae growth on site, but said some of the data was duplicative and time consuming to produce.
