Russian Government to Consider a Return to Crab Industry Auctions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the national government to think about changing the rules for the distribution of quotas for crab catch in Russia during the next decade, preparing a move that could lead to a repartition of the market with an annual value of 120 billion rubles (US $2 billion).
Putin’s latest order is the result of a recent petition, sent to him by some unknown Russian crab producers, which proposed a change from the currently used historical principle of quotas’ distribution.
